五、闕緣者，闕初二緣並有小罪，以於一切含靈皆須敬故。闕第三緣得中罪，以於師長身心不敬故。闕第四緣得上罪，以於師長起輕慢心故。

Fifth, on missing conditions: If either of the first two conditions is missing, there is still a minor offense, because one must respect all sentient beings. If the third condition is missing, one incurs a medium offense, because bodily and mentally one does not respect teachers and elders. If the fourth condition is missing, one incurs a high offense, because one gives rise to a mind of disrespect and contempt toward teachers and elders.
