Sixth, on minor and major, there are four kinds: 1. In terms of the object, there are three grades: first, regarding the two teachers, it is the heaviest; second, regarding senior members, it is next; third, regarding one's peers. Regarding these three objects, high, medium, and low offenses are incurred, which can be understood. 2. In terms of the mind, there are also three grades: namely, first, with a mind of resentment or anger and vexation, one commits a higher-grade offense; second, without resentment and the like, but solely due to arrogance and ignorance, it is a medium grade; third, due to indolence and lapse of mindfulness, it is a lower grade. 3. In terms of pairing: by pairing these three minds with the preceding three objects in their respective combinations, the minor and major can be understood. 4. In terms of the matter, there are also three grades: first, failing to sell oneself [to serve them] and so forth; second, failing to revere and attend according to the Dharma; third, failing to welcome, see off, and prostrate. The low, medium, and high offenses can be understood.
