5.159

二、次第者，前則慢不求法，今則慢不說法。經云：菩薩求法不懈，說法無惜。此云也。又前明輕於先學，今則悔於後進。經云：不輕未學，敬已學如佛。此謂也。

Second, the sequence: Previously, out of arrogance one did not seek the Dharma; now, out of arrogance one does not explain the Dharma. A sūtra states: "Bodhisattvas seek the Dharma without indolence, and explain the Dharma without stinginess." This is what it refers to. Moreover, the previous precept clarified slighting those who learned before, while this one concerns regretting [guiding] those who advance later. A sūtra states: "Do not slight those who have not yet learned; respect those who have already learned like the Buddha." This is what it means.
