5.58

初、制意者，菩薩理應慈濟群品，乃而反販賣人畜四具自資，內違慈行外招譏謗，故須制也。

First, the rationale for establishment: A bodhisattva in principle should compassionately deliver all beings, yet on the contrary engages in the trade of humans, animals, and the four implements to support themselves; internally this violates compassionate practice, and externally it invites ridicule and slander, hence it must be prohibited.
