八、釋文者，文中有五：一、制受持，二、制讀誦，三、制書寫。於中先舉難，謂「剝皮」等。後況易，謂「木皮」等，謂貝多葉皮為木皮也。餘可知。四、「常以」下制令供養書寫等十種法行，此中具說。五、「若不」下違制結犯，可知。

Eighth, explaining the text: in the text there are five [parts]: 1. prescribing upholding, 2. prescribing reciting, 3. prescribing copying. Therein, it first raises what is difficult, namely 'flaying the skin' and so forth; afterwards it compares it to what is easy, namely 'tree bark' and so forth, meaning taking pattra leaves and bark as tree bark. The rest can be known. 4. From 'constantly with' downward, it prescribes making offerings, copying, and the rest of the ten kinds of Dharma practices, which are fully explained here. 5. From 'if one does not' downward, violating the prescription and adjudicating the offense can be known.
