1.61

若佛子！自慳、教人慳，慳因、慳緣、慳法、慳業。而菩薩見一切貧窮人來乞者，隨前人所須一切給與。而菩薩以惡心、瞋心，乃至不施一錢、一針、一草，有求法者不為說一句、一偈、一微塵計法，而反更罵辱者，是菩薩波羅夷罪。

If a disciple of the Buddha is himself stingy or teaches others to be stingy—the causes of stinginess, the conditions of stinginess, the methods of stinginess, the karma of stinginess—yet a bodhisattva, seeing all poor people who come begging, gives them everything according to what the other person needs; but if the bodhisattva, with an evil mind and an angry mind, does not give even a single coin, a single needle, or a single blade of grass, and to one seeking the Dharma does not speak even a single phrase, a single verse, or a phrase as tiny as a speck of dust, but instead turns to reviling and insulting him, this is a bodhisattva parājika offense.
