若佛子！常行教化起大悲心，若入檀越貴人家，一切眾中不得立為白衣說法，應在白衣眾前高座上坐。法師比丘不得地立為四眾說法。若說法時，法師高座香華供養，四眾聽者下坐，如孝順父母、敬順師教，如事火婆羅門。其說法者，若不如法說者，犯輕垢罪。

"O disciples of the Buddha! Constantly practice teaching and transforming, giving rise to a mind of great compassion. If entering the home of a dānapati or a person of noble rank, in the midst of any assembly you must not stand to expound the Dharma for white-robed laity; you should sit on a high seat in front of the assembly of white-robed laity. A Dharma master bhikṣu must not stand on the ground to expound the Dharma for the fourfold assembly. When expounding the Dharma, the Dharma master is on a high seat with offerings of incense and flowers, and the fourfold assembly of listeners sits on lower seats, just as when filial and obedient to parents or reverently compliant with a teacher's instructions, like fire-worshiping brahmins. If the one expounding the Dharma does not speak according to the Dharma, they commit a duṣkṛta offense."
