"Disciples of the Buddha! Having made these ten great vows, upholding the Buddha’s restrictive precepts, make vows saying: 'I would rather cast this body into blazing fierce fire, a great pit, or a mountain of swords than ever violate the sūtras and vinaya of the Buddhas of the three periods of time to commit impure conduct with any woman.' Again make this vow: 'I would rather have a thousand layers of hot iron netting tightly wrap around my body than ever, with a precept-breaking body, receive any robes from faithful dānapatis.' Again make this vow: 'I would rather swallow hot iron pellets and great rivers of fierce fire with this mouth for hundreds of thousands of kalpas than ever, with a precept-breaking mouth, consume the hundred-flavored food and drink of faithful dānapatis.' Again make this vow: 'I would rather lie with this body on ground of hot iron with netting of great rivers of fierce fire than ever, with a precept-breaking body, receive the hundred kinds of beds and seats of faithful dānapatis.' Again make this vow: 'I would rather endure this body being pierced by three hundred spears for one or two kalpas than ever, with a precept-breaking body, receive the hundred-flavored medicines of faithful dānapatis.' Again make this vow: 'I would rather cast this body into a caldron of hot iron for hundreds of thousands of kalpas than ever, with a precept-breaking body, receive the thousand kinds of chambers, houses, gardens, groves, and lands of faithful dānapatis.' Again make this vow: 'I would rather have an iron hammer smash this body, from head to foot, reducing it to fine dust, than ever, with a precept-breaking body, receive the reverence and prostrations of faithful dānapatis.' Again make this vow: 'I would rather gouge out both eyes with hundreds of thousands of hot iron knives and spears than ever, with a precept-breaking mind, look upon another's beautiful forms.' Again make this vow: 'I would rather pierce the ear faculty with hundreds of thousands of iron awls for one or two kalpas than ever, with a precept-breaking mind, listen to pleasant sounds.' Again make this vow: 'I would rather cut off the nose with hundreds of thousands of sharp blades than ever, with a precept-breaking mind, crave and smell various fragrances.' Again make this vow: 'I would rather sever the tongue with hundreds of thousands of sharp blades than ever, with a precept-breaking mind, eat people's hundred-flavored pure foods.' Again make this vow: 'I would rather cleave this body with a sharp axe than ever, with a precept-breaking mind, crave and cling to pleasant tangibles.' Again make this vow: 'I vow that all sentient beings will entirely attain Buddhahood.' And if a bodhisattva does not make these vows, they commit a duṣkṛta offense."
