The text on the stage of no longer lapsing can be understood. Prior to the stages, the adhimukticaryā-bhūmi is called the stage of faithful practice, because it initiates practice with faith as foremost, not yet being realization. Furthermore, prolonged supreme understanding necessarily arises from this initial faith, taking its name from having faith in all virtues. Again, faith itself is the first abode, and practice refers to the other abodes, combined together as a title. The ten stages realize untainted wisdom and vision and attain four confidences with a pure mind; partially eliminating obstacles is called the pure-mind stage. The Tathāgata stage is manifest and need not be separately correlated, being the ultimate abode.
