Among the above six meanings, the text of the sūtra has two: 1. those who can embrace and entrust; 2. those who are embraced and entrusted. Asaṅga's treatise has two complete and one partial: the two complete are 1. the time of embracing and entrustment, and 2. the characteristics of embracing and entrustment; the one partial is the dharmas of embracing and entrustment. Vasubandhu's treatise has one complete and one partial: the one complete is the classes of those embraced and entrusted; the one partial is the dharmas of embracing and entrustment. The two treatises merely explain embracing and entrustment, speaking generally; combining and opening them gives four general headings or six meanings. Vasubandhu's treatise summarizes the preceding text and meaning with a verse. The Bodhisattvabhūmi states that bodhisattvas who have already matured have three grades: the first kalpa is called the lower grade; the second kalpa is called the middle grade; the third kalpa is called the upper grade; only those prior to the three grades are called 'not yet mature'.
