Question: 'In the ultimate truth all phenomena are non-existent; why speak solely of there being no atoms?' Answer: 'Because ordinary people and the two vehicles are unable to break down atoms, either grasping atoms as real and permanent, or grasping that real atoms exist in the ultimate truth; in order to refute these false graspings, it is said that if the collection of atoms were existent in the ultimate truth, the Buddha would not speak of them as a multitude of atoms.'
