此亦通大小二眾。問：經云四眾圍遶，但聲聞出家二眾，在家二眾云何通菩薩耶？答：菩薩亦有在家出家。《智度論》云「菩薩必隨四眾中，四眾未必隨菩薩中。」

This also applies to both assemblies, the great and the small. Question: The sūtra says "surrounded by the four assemblies"; these are only the two monastic assemblies and the two lay assemblies of śrāvakas, so how does this apply to bodhisattvas? Answer: Bodhisattvas also have householders and renunciants. The *Dazhidulun* says: "Bodhisattvas necessarily conform among the four assemblies, but the four assemblies do not necessarily conform among bodhisattvas."
