Within this, ten items are briefly explained. "Vessel world" refers to the eighteen thousand Buddha lands in the east. "Sentient-being world" refers to the sentient beings in those eighteen thousand lands. "Varieties of number" explains and clarifies the various differences in the numbers of sentient beings. "Varieties of measure" clarifies the differences in the shapes and dimensions of the vessel worlds. "Distinctions in being fully endowed with defilements" explains the differences among sentient beings in the six destinies; the differences among the six destinies are all due to the superior, middling, and inferior distinctions of defilements. "Distinctions in being fully endowed with purity" explains the various differences among the pure worlds. "Distinctions among the disciples of the Buddha's Dharma in order to display the Three Jewels": the Buddha refers to the Buddhas in the eighteen thousand lands of the east; the Dharma is the Dharma expounded by the Buddhas in the eighteen thousand lands; the disciples refer to the four assemblies and up to the bodhisattvas. "Furthermore, distinctions in vehicles": the four fruits are the Small Vehicle, and bodhisattvas are the Great Vehicle. "Worlds having Buddhas and worlds lacking Buddhas": worlds in the east with currently existing Buddhas are "having Buddhas"; seeing that after the parinirvāṇa of the Buddhas, seven-jeweled stūpas are erected for the Buddha's relics, is called "lacking Buddhas." "In order to cause sentient beings to see": above, the manifestation of the ten items was clarified; here, causing sentient beings to behold the ten items is clarified, which explains the sūtra's words "were all seen in this world." From "practitioners who have not yet attained the fruit" below: the above explanation was not exhaustive, so it is now analyzed again. In total it explains two matters: first, it explains the practice of the four assemblies. "Those who have not yet attained the fruit" refers to those cultivating the practices of the three trainings who have not yet attained the four fruits; "those who have attained the Path" refers to those who have already attained the four fruits.
