羅什經有十法，今明五法，或可梵本廣略不同，難可詳會。亦可以此五而攝彼十，可自推度。問：何故但明五法？答：夫欲化他，必須識法。此五法攝一切法盡故，若證法、若教法悉在此五法中，是以化他須明五法。

Kumārajīva's sūtra has ten dharmas, while here five dharmas are clarified; perhaps the Sanskrit texts differed in extensive and concise versions, making it difficult to reconcile them in detail. One may also subsume those ten under these five, as one may infer for oneself. Question: Why clarify only five dharmas? Answer: Whoever wishes to transform others must understand dharmas. Because these five dharmas completely subsume all dharmas, whether the dharma of realization or the dharma of teaching, all are within these five dharmas; this is why transforming others requires clarifying the five dharmas.
