3.29

以供養佛，知佛示現教化眾生力故。今遂不供養，即不知此事。又佛所以可供養者，為佛有化物之力故也。我若供養於佛，亦得此力，便不證小果。以不供養佛，取於小果，故失化物力也。

Because through making offerings to the Buddha, one understands that the Buddha reveals the power to teach and transform sentient beings. Now, if one ultimately does not make offerings, one will not understand this matter. Furthermore, the reason the Buddha should be offered to is that the Buddha possesses the power to transform beings. If I make offerings to the Buddha, I too will attain this power and will not realize the lesser fruit. Because one does not make offerings to the Buddha and grasps the lesser fruit, one loses the power to transform beings.
