〔補註〕猪揩金山，金則愈光；石磨劍形，劍則愈利。永嘉謂不「因謗訕起冤親，何表無生慈忍力」是也。

[Supplementary Note] When a pig rubs against a gold mountain, the gold shines all the brighter; when a stone whets the blade of a sword, the sword becomes all the sharper. Yongjia said, "Were it not for slander and ridicule giving rise to enemies and friends, how could the power of compassionate forbearance of the unborn be displayed?" This is precisely the meaning.
