〔補註〕世之脅肩諂咲、婢膝奴顏以求人意者，思遂其富貴利達之欲故也。無欲於己則何求於人哉。

[Supplementary note:] In the world, those who shrug their shoulders and flatter with smiles, behaving like maidservants and slaves to court people’s favor, do so because they contemplate fulfilling their desires for wealth, honor, profit, and advancement. If one has no desires in oneself, what would one seek from others?
