「對法藏論我當說」者，此明發起序。對法藏論，下文自釋我當說者，五蘊假者目之為我。當說之言，簡已、正說。歸世尊既終，許發論端，言我當說。次欲造論，故先發起。

'I shall explain the Abhidharmakośa-śāstra': this explains the introductory inception. The Abhidharmakośa-śāstra will be explained by the text below itself. As for 'I shall explain': the provisional person consisting of the five skandhas is designated as 'I'. The word 'shall explain' distinguishes [this exposition] from what has already been spoken or is currently being spoken. Having completed refuge in the World-Honoured One, he promises to initiate the treatise, saying 'I shall explain'. Desiring next to compose the treatise, he therefore first provides this inception.
