「去來名遠現在名近」者，遠近門。可知。《集異門》一解同此論。又一解云：云何遠色？答：若色過去非無間滅，若色未來非現前起，是名遠色。云何近色？答：若色過去無間已滅，若色未來現前正起，是名近色。

"Past and future are called distant; the present is called near": the gate of distant and near. Clear. One explanation in the *Saṅgītiparyāya* agrees with this treatise. Another explanation says: "What is distant matter? Answer: If matter in the past did not perish immediately contiguously, or if matter in the future does not arise in the immediate present, this is called distant matter. What is near matter? Answer: If matter in the past has perished immediately contiguously, or if matter in the future is just now arising in the immediate present, this is called near matter."
