Regarding 'Material food is of two kinds [...] the contrary of this is coarse': Below this, material food is explained separately. This clarifies that material food is either subtle or coarse. First, that which is free of filth is subtle, and that which has filth is coarse. Food of the initial aeon refers to the people at the beginning of the aeon eating earth-taste, earth-cake, and forest-creepers without transforming into filth; only after eating fragrant rice did excrement and urine appear. Second, that which is little and soft is called subtle, and that which is much and coarse is called coarse. 'Minute sweat insects' refers to nits and lice. Their bodies are minute and small, and they are born from sweat. Alternatively, they are insects within human bodies that feed on sweat, called minute sweat insects.
