Regarding "Because there is no fourth ... the three calamities of the external receptacle": in the answer there are two explanations. First, in terms of the internal body there are three calamities and disorders, namely wind, heat (bile), and phlegm: when water increases, phlegm disorders arise; when fire increases, heat disorders arise; when wind increases, wind disorders arise. Medical texts state that the body has three divisions: from the heart upward is the phlegm division, from below the heart to above the navel is the heat division, and from below the navel downward is the wind division. Second, in terms of the external receptacle world there are also three calamities: fire, water, and wind resemble the three external calamities. The earth element is not a calamity, so it lacks the function of severing.
