15.12

「由此差別至加行後起」者，以別解脫律儀對定、道二律儀發處差別，應作四句。有蘊、處、界從彼唯得別解律儀非餘定、道二律儀等。此中四句，思之可知。第四句中不言遮罪，略而不說。又《婆沙》一百二十作四句中，第一句不言遮罪者，亦略不論。

"From this distinction […] preparatory applications and subsequent actions": contrasting the differences in the loci of origin between the pratimokṣa discipline and the two disciplines of dhyāna and the path, four alternatives should be constructed. There are skandhas, āyatanas, and dhātus from which one obtains only the pratimokṣa discipline and not the other two disciplines of dhyāna and the path, and so on. Among these, the four alternatives can be known upon reflection. In the fourth alternative, offences by prohibition are not mentioned, being omitted for brevity. Furthermore, among the four alternatives constructed in the Mahāvibhāṣā, fascicle one hundred and twenty, offences by prohibition are not mentioned in the first alternative, which is also omitted for brevity.
