「此障何法」者，問。「謂障聖道至加行善根」者，答。謂障聖道，及障聖道加行善根。或亦能障異生離染。故《正理》四十三云「能障聖道，及道資糧，并離染故（已上論文）。」即准此理，異熟障中不說大梵，以有漏道能離染故。

"What dharma does this obstruct?": Question. "It obstructs the noble path: Up to: Preparatory roots of virtue": Answer. It means obstructing the noble path, and obstructing the preparatory roots of virtue for the noble path. Or it is also able to obstruct ordinary beings (pṛthagjana) from separating from passion. Therefore Nyāyānusāra 43 says: "Because it is able to obstruct the noble path, the provisions for the path, and separation from passion (end of treatise passage)." By this principle, Mahābrahmā is not mentioned in the obstacle of ripening, because by means of the sāsrava path one is able to separate from passion.
