Regarding "Or there are actions... one should consider other cases by this analogy": what follows explains the latter half of the verse. This specifically clarifies that performing actions is heavy. Or there are actions that become of the heavy grade solely through being embraced by subsequent action, because they definitively establish their result of maturation. Among subsequent actions, the heavier subsequent action is not like other light grades. Or there are actions that become heavy by reason of the field, as when doing harm or benefit to the fields of gratitude or virtue, unlike toward other ordinary persons. Or there are cases where, with respect to the field, an action becomes heavy through the power of the fundamental [act] and not otherwise, pointing directly to concrete events: for example, committing the sin of killing with respect to the field of father or mother is heavy, constituting an immediate karma (ānantarya-karma), but committing theft and so forth with respect to father or mother does not constitute an immediate sin. This clarifies that the fundamental action is heavy with reference to the field. Having briefly explained these three, that actions become heavy through the remaining preparatory application, volition, and intent should be considered analogously.
