19.50

「色無色界至各三十一」者，釋第七、第八句。可知。問：何緣上界無瞋隨眠？答：《顯宗》云「彼瞋隨眠，事非有故。謂於苦受有瞋隨眠，苦受彼無，故瞋非有。又彼相續由定潤故，又彼非瞋異熟因故。有說：彼無惱害事故，慈等善根所居處故，諸所攝受皆遠離故。」

"The form and formless realms... each thirty-one" explains the seventh and eighth lines. It is understandable. Question: For what reason does the higher realm have no anuśaya of hostility? Answer: The Xianzong lun says: "In that realm, the anuśaya of hostility has no basis for existence. That is, the anuśaya of hostility exists with respect to painful feeling; painful feeling does not exist there, and therefore hostility does not exist. Furthermore, their continuum is moistened by concentration; and furthermore, that realm is not a maturation-cause of hostility. Some say: because they have no harmful circumstances, because it is the dwelling place of wholesome roots such as loving-kindness, and because they are entirely free from any possessiveness."
