Regarding "The verse states: [...] because they are not grasping": this is the answer in verse. Furthermore, the *Mahāvibhāṣā*, fascicle forty-eight, says: "Question: Why are the impurities of defilement (kleśamala) not spoken of as outflows and the like? Some say: They are also spoken of within the sensual outflow (kāmāsrava) and the like. The *Prakaraṇapāda* states: 'What is the sensual outflow? It refers to, in the desire realm, excluding ignorance, all remaining fetters, bonds, anuśayas, secondary defilements (upakleśa), and entanglements; this is called the sensual outflow,' and so on at length. 'Secondary defilements' means the impurities of defilement. It should be said: because the impurities of defilement are coarse and not stable, they are not called outflows and the like. Lack of faith, indolence, and heedlessness are also, because their faults are slight, not called outflows and the like."
