21.49

「憍喜樂相應至與喜相應」者，釋第七句中上三字。憍，喜、樂相應，歡行轉故。非憂相應，非慼行故。唯意地故，喜、樂相應。樂謂三定，非五識故，非彼樂相應。

"Conceit is associated with joy and pleasure ... is associated with joy" explains the first three characters in the seventh line. Conceit is associated with joy and pleasure because it proceeds with an activity of jubilation. It is not associated with grief because it is not an activity of distress. Because it belongs solely to the mental stage, it is associated with joy and pleasure. "Pleasure" refers to the three dhyānas; because it is not the five consciousnesses, it is not associated with that [sensory] pleasure.
