「唯與真實作意相應」者，釋頌實，假實門也。此息念觀唯與真實作意相應。又《正理》云「此唯真實作意相應。有說：亦通勝解、作意。」此論同《正理》前師。《雜心》、《婆沙》同《正理》後說。此即意各別也。又解：前師唯據根本故唯真實，後師亦據加行故通勝解。

[On the phrase] 'associated only with real mental attention': this explains the verse's 'real,' which is the door of the real versus the imaginative. This contemplation of mindfulness of breathing is associated only with real mental attention. Furthermore, the *Nyāyānusāra* says: 'This is associated only with real mental attention. Some say: It also extends to mental attention of resolute intention.' This treatise agrees with the former master in the *Nyāyānusāra*. The *Saṃyuktābhidharmahṛdaya* and the *Mahāvibhāṣā* agree with the latter statement in the *Nyāyānusāra*. Thus their views are distinct. Alternatively, it is explained: The former masters refer only to the fundamental [absorption] and therefore it is only real; the latter masters also refer to the preparatory stage and therefore it extends to resolute intention.
