[On the phrase] 'The breath is included in sentient beings because it is a bodily part of a sentient being': this explains the verse's 'included in sentient beings.' This is the third door, sentient versus non-sentient. Because it is a bodily part of a sentient being, it is included solely in sentient beings. Thus the *Nyāyānusāra* says: 'This inhalation and exhalation are subsumed under sentient beings, because breath is absent in a body without consciousness. Although it comes from the outside, it has the meaning of being bound to what is internal.'
