「此四念住至所緣別故」者，開章總答。《正理》云「何緣故說三種念住？為愚行相、資糧、所緣三種有情，故說三種。」

Regarding "These four foundations of mindfulness ... because of the distinction in their cognitive objects": this sets forth the general headings in reply. The Nyāyānusāra states: "For what reason are three kinds of foundations of mindfulness spoken of? For sentient beings who are confused about mental activity, requisites, and cognitive objects, three kinds are spoken of."
