「若謂見位至九結聚相違」者，難。若謂見道位唯八忍斷惑，即與本論說九結聚相違，彼說九結是智斷故。言九結聚者，謂見道中上、下八諦所斷為八，及修道惑足前為九。用九智斷，即八諦智及修道智。故《正理》云「若見道位唯忍能斷惑，應與本論九結聚相違，以本論中說四法、類智及修所斷為九結聚故。」

Regarding "If one claims that in the stage of vision... it contradicts the nine fetter-aggregates": Objection: If one claims that in the stage of the path of vision only the eight receptivities abandon defilements, then this contradicts the root treatise's statement of the nine fetter-aggregates, because it states that the nine fetters are abandoned by cognition. As for the nine fetter-aggregates: what is abandoned by the upper and lower eight truths in the path of vision constitutes eight, and adding the defilements of the path of cultivation makes nine. They are abandoned using nine cognitions, namely the cognitions of the eight truths and the cognition of the path of cultivation. Thus the Nyāyānusāra says: "If in the stage of the path of vision only receptivity can abandon defilements, it should contradict the root treatise's nine fetter-aggregates, because the root treatise states that the four cognitions of dharma, the [four] subsequent cognitions, and what is abandoned by cultivation constitute nine fetter-aggregates."
