"‘Interstice’ (vīci) means interval... is said to be called ekavīcika": explains the name ekavīcika. The former explains the name ekavīcika in terms of vipāka, and the latter in terms of defilement. A person who achieves this one interstice is said to be called ekavīcika. Furthermore, the *Nyāyānusāra* says: "What is called ‘interstice’ (vīci) is another name for an opening. That is, in that state, because there is one opening, one receives one birth, and has not yet attained nirvāṇa."
