"There is detachment that is not revulsion ... because it can remove defilement," this is the second alternative. Detachment without revulsion refers to all patiences and knowledges taking nirodha-satya and mārga-satya as their objects that can cause the severing of defilements; because they take joyful objects as their domain, they are not revulsion; because they can remove defilement, there is detachment. The Nyāyānusāra explains: "It should be understood that here, for one who enters the seeing of the truths without having detached from the defilement of desire, the dharma-patiences of nirodha and mārga, as well as all subsequent patiences of nirodha and mārga, and the nirodha-knowledge and mārga-knowledge subsumed under the uninterrupted path within the path of cultivation, are merely termed detachment, because they are counteractive antidotes for severing; they are not termed revulsion, because they take joyful objects as their domain."
