On the passage beginning with "First, in the path of seeing ... obtained solely through preparation": in the answer, this is the first part, explaining cultivation with reference to the path of seeing. Preparing to explain the various cultivations, it briefly clarifies the ten cognitions based on the four paths of preparation, uninterruptedness, liberation, and distinction. As for cultivation of acquisition and cultivation of practice: the cognitions of suffering, arising, cessation, path, dharma, subsequent, and conventional can all admit cultivation of acquisition and cultivation of practice across the four paths, because they are broad and pervasive. As for the cognition of another's mind: in the path of preparation, because it does not sever obstacles, it admits acquisition-cultivation, but because it is not leisurely, it lacks practice-cultivation. In the uninterrupted path, because it severs obstacles, it lacks acquisition-cultivation and practice-cultivation. In the paths of liberation and distinction, because they do not sever obstacles, they admit acquisition-cultivation, and because they are leisurely paths, they admit practice-cultivation. As for the cognition of exhaustion: across the four paths, because they are mutually bound, they all admit acquisition-cultivation. The preparation and uninterrupted paths have the nature of seeing, so they lack practice-cultivation. The paths of liberation and distinction admit the resting of seeking, so they admit practice-cultivation. As for the cognition of non-arising: it is as explained for the cognition of exhaustion. The difference is: in the path of liberation there is no practice-cultivation, because there is no possibility of its arising. One should know that, briefly based on all four paths, each has the two cultivations according to what is appropriate. Having made this distinction and explanation, the specific differences among them are as in the treatise text below.
