「由得故得至理不成立」者，經部復徵。我問不起，得義何依？應以餘義來釋。不以餘釋，而今乃言由得故名得，此乃以得釋得。如是所釋曾所未聞，故所辨修理不成立。

[The phrase] "[To say it is acquired] by acquisition [...] the principle is not established" is the Sautrāntikas' rejoinder: We asked, when it does not arise, upon what does the meaning of acquisition rest? You should explain it through another principle. Rather than explaining it through another principle, you now say that it is called acquired through acquisition—this is merely explaining acquisition by acquisition! Such an explanation has never been heard before; therefore the principle of cultivation you have posited is not established.
