"In the first eight vimuktis of the five ... cultivates ten in the future": this explains below the fourth line. In each of the first eight vimuktis of the first five lineages in the sharpening of faculties by an aśaikṣa, the four anvaya- and two dharma-[jñānas] are cultivated in the present according to applicability. In the future they cultivate eight: [the knowledges of] the four truths, dharma, anvaya, another's mind, and destruction. Because it is not a vimukti of supernatural knowledge, [the knowledge of] another's mind is not cultivated in the present. Because it does not sever obstacles, [the knowledge of] another's mind is acquired and cultivated. The first eight vimuktis are not yet the cessation of seeking, and are still [of the nature of] seeing; hence kṣaya[-jñāna] is not cultivated in the present. Because they belong to the same category, kṣaya-jñāna is acquired and cultivated. This explains '[cultivates] eight according to applicability.' Among the first five lineages, in each ninth vimukti of the first four lineages, [the knowledges of] suffering, origination, anvaya, and destruction are cultivated in the present according to applicability. Just as in the ninth vimukti of severing the peak of existence, when attaining the fruit of arhatship one first gives rise to kṣaya-jñāna, they cultivate nine in the future, excluding the knowledge of non-arising. This explains '[cultivates] nine according to applicability.' In the fifth lineage among the first five lineages, in the ninth and final vimukti-mārga, [the knowledges of] suffering, origination, anvaya, and destruction are cultivated in the present according to applicability. In the future they cultivate ten, adding the knowledge of non-arising. This explains '[cultivates] all according to applicability.'
