「謂依此釋至八異相故」者，經部師答。十一對中，初之三對貪等不竝，分明別說，理且可然，不能辨了散等、聚等八對異相，謂一剎那染心即是散等八，一剎那善心即是聚等八。

Regarding "That is to say, according to this explanation ... because of the eight distinct characteristics": the Sautrāntika master replies. Among the eleven pairs, the first three pairs—where attachment and the like do not coexist—are explained distinctly and clearly, and this principle is indeed acceptable; but it cannot distinguish the distinct characteristics of the eight pairs such as distracted and gathered, asserting that a single moment of defiled mind is simply the eight such as distracted, and a single moment of wholesome mind is simply the eight such as gathered.
