「頌曰至地獄初能知」者，就頌答中，初五句明五通類，次一句三性分別，後兩句約趣通局。

"The verse says [...] up to those in hell can know at the beginning": In the verse reply, the first five lines explain the varieties of the five supernormal cognitions, the next line is the analysis according to the three natures, and the last two lines concern their presence or absence according to destiny.
