28.16

「有餘師說至即四靜慮故」者，有餘經部師說：即心一境前後相續轉時名三摩地，離心之外無別有體。契經說此定為增上心學故，顯定即心。心清淨最勝，即四靜慮故，顯心即定。故知離心無別定體。

"Other masters say: '…namely, the four dhyānas'": other Sautrāntika masters say that when the mind operates in continuous succession upon a single object, that is called samādhi; apart from the mind, it has no separate entity. Because the sūtra speaks of this samādhi as the training in higher mind (adhicitta-śikṣā), it shows that samādhi is simply the mind; and because purity of mind is supreme, namely the four dhyānas, it shows that the mind is simply samādhi. Therefore we know that apart from the mind, there is no separate entity of samādhi.
