29.25

「此加行位至能治四障」者，會釋前文開二章門：一此加行位制伏瞋等、二或此能令已斷更遠。由此二義，故前說此能治四障。或通伏難，伏難意云：若非斷惑，如何前說能治四障？

Regarding "at this stage of preparation, up to: they can counteract the four hindrances": this reconciles and explains the earlier text by setting out two headings: first, that at this stage of preparation they suppress hatred and the like; second, or that they cause what has already been abandoned to become even further removed. Due to these two meanings, it was previously said that they can counteract the four hindrances. Alternatively, this resolves a covert objection. The import of the covert objection asks: if they do not abandon defilements, why was it previously said that they can counteract the four hindrances?
