"The treatise says: [...] the dharmas that are aids to awakening": this explains the upper two lines. The true Dharma of the World-Honoured One has two substances: first, the Dharma of doctrine; second, the Dharma of realization. The Dharma of doctrine refers to the teachings of the Tripiṭaka. The first is the Sūtrapiṭaka, which is translated as "connected discourses." The second is the Vinayapiṭaka, which is translated as "discipline." The discipline of bodily and verbal conduct subdues practitioners; the teaching explains subduing, taking its name from what it explains. The third is the Abhidharmapiṭaka, which is translated as "the study of Dharma," as explained extensively above. The Dharma of realization refers to the thirty-seven factors of awakening belonging to the three vehicles of the śrāvakas, pratyekabuddhas, and Tathāgatas.
