「若增上故至有增上用故」者，此下第二明根廢立。就中，一述自宗、二敘異說。此下述自宗，將明問起。就問中，一約自宗為問、二約數論為問。此即約自宗為問。十二緣起中，無明等因於行等果各各別有增上用故，應立為根。

"If by sovereignty... [up to] because they have sovereign efficacy": from here down is the second section, clarifying the establishment and rejection of faculties. Within this, first is the presentation of their own school, and second is the presentation of other views. Below is the presentation of their own school, introducing the question to be explained. Within the question, first it asks from the standpoint of their own school, and second it asks from the standpoint of the Sāṃkhya. This is the question from their own school: in the twelve links of dependent origination, causes such as ignorance each distinctly possess sovereign efficacy toward effects such as saṃskāras; therefore, they should be established as faculties.
