"If you say the sūtra states that there is... born in the world": the author of the treatise again cites their thesis to refute it. If you say the sūtra states that there is a single pudgala born in the world, where the self is one while the skandhas are many: this is also unreasonable. The sūtra speaks of one self because it nominally speaks of one self with respect to the aggregate of skandhas as a whole. Just as in the world, many minute atoms are called one sesame seed or one grain of rice, many grains and barley are called one heap, and sounds of many moments are called one word. Alternatively, the self you posit should be conceded as subsumed under the conditioned, because the sūtra says it is born in the world; yet your school does not accept that it is subsumed under the conditioned.
