Regarding 'If the four great elements [...] can be apprehended and not the others': below this is the second [part], resolving objections. Within it, [there are]: first, resolving objections concerning the four great elements; second, resolving objections concerning derived matter (upādāya-rūpa). Within resolving objections concerning the four great elements, [there are]: first, the question; second, the answer. This is the question. If it is said that the four great elements arise without departing from one another, then within material aggregations, how is it that any one of solidity, wetness, warmth, or motility can be apprehended, and not the other [three] great elements? Just as in gold and the like, only solidity is apprehended; in water and the like, only wetness is apprehended; in flame and the like, only warmth is apprehended; and in space/wind and the like, only motility is apprehended.
