4.56

「謂此於善至名不放逸」者，答。謂由有此不放逸故，於諸善法專注為性。餘部經言能守護心，明知有體。理實亦守心所，從強說心。

"Namely, this [factor] regarding the wholesome... is called heedfulness": this is the answer. It means that due to the existence of this heedfulness, its nature is focused application to wholesome phenomena. The sūtras of other schools say that it can guard the mind, which makes it clearly known that it has a real substance. In principle, it also guards the mental factors, but one speaks of the mind because it is predominant.
