「若爾云何通至染污思」者，難。彼文既說聖人初退起染污思，唯用不善為因。明知聖者修斷染污法，非以見斷為因。若以見斷為因，不應言唯不善為因，以身、邊二見是無記故。

Regarding "If so, how to resolve... defiled volition": an objection. Since that text states that when a noble one first falls away and gives rise to defiled volition, it takes only the unwholesome as its cause, we clearly know that the defiled dharmas to be abandoned by cultivation in a noble one do not take what is abandoned by seeing as their cause. If they took what is abandoned by seeing as their cause, it should not say that they take only the unwholesome as their cause, because the two views—of personal identity and of extremes—are indeterminate.
