「自部自地至皆無因義」者，釋自部地。部謂五部，地謂九地，五九四十五類各別為因。故《婆沙》十七評家云「同地異處所起煩惱展轉相縛，隨類展轉為同類因。然除異部，五部隨眠繫縛分齊有差別故。」

On "Belonging to its own category and its own plane [...] all have no meaning of being a cause": this explains "its own category and plane." "Category" refers to the five categories, and "plane" refers to the nine planes; five times nine makes forty-five classes, each separately acting as causes. Therefore, the critical arbiter in the Mahāvibhāṣā, fascicle 17, says: "Defilements arisen in different locations of the same plane mutually bind one another, and according to category they mutually serve as homogeneous causes. However, differing categories are excluded, because the limits of binding by the anuśayas of the five categories have distinctions."
