「如是諸緣至而興作用」者，此下第二明緣作用。問：如是諸緣，於何位果法而興與果用？此與果用，過、現眾多，故別分別。其取果用，若依《正理》唯在現在，若依《婆沙》雖亦通過去，唯等無間緣無多差別，故此不說。

Regarding 'In this way, these conditions … exercise their function': below, this is the second part, clarifying the functions of the conditions. Question: With respect to which stage of the result dharma do these conditions exercise their function of bestowing the result? This function of bestowing the result is manifold in the past and present, so it is analyzed separately. The function of grasping the result, according to the Nyāyānusāra, is exclusively in the present; according to the Mahāvibhāṣā, although it also extends to the past, only the immediately preceding condition has no manifold distinctions, hence it is not discussed here.
