"That is, in a single place [...] because they depend on different great elements": from here on, the specific refutations. Herein there are four: first, refutation based on mirror and reflection sharing the same place; second, refutation based on two reflections sharing the same place; third, refutation based on shadow and light sharing the same place; fourth, refutation based on near and distant being seen differently. This is the first, refuting based on mirror and reflection sharing the same place. The matter of the mirror and the reflection are both seen present in a single place; if the reflection were real, the two forms could not coexist in the same place, because each separately relies on different great elements. Since they exist in the same place, it is evident that the reflection is nominal.
