"Now, what is said here [...] both fail to bring about understanding": an external objection. In the Western regions, when someone explains a meaning indistinctly, people tease them, saying it is like the "answer of tying the horse". What the author of the treatise says now is like the "answer of tying the horse". When non-Buddhists slay a horse to sacrifice to heaven and tie the horse to a post, someone asks, "Who is the one who tied the horse?" The reply is, "The horse's owner." "Who is the horse's owner?" The reply is, "The one who tied it."
